Catapult nomination process

Catapult nominations are due: April 2, 2026

Catapult Camp dates are Wednesday, August 12 - Wednesday, August 19, 2026

Every student deserves the opportunity to build self-confidence and develop their leadership potential. Research suggests that a quality camp experience can change a young person’s life. We witness this every year. Our students don’t just come to summer camp, they join a family, receiving the support they need to become their best selves. Those selected will attend our Catapult Summer Leadership Camp and can continue with our Catapult Plus Leadership program for the following 2 years!

As a teacher, a coach or other youth support worker, this is an opportunity for you to change the life trajectory of a deserving student.

On this page, you'll find details on who to nominate, along with access to our nomination forms below. Catapult is designed for youth with leadership potential who have had limited opportunities to cultivate their leadership skills. If you have questions? Contact us

Resources for teachers

Teachers nominate students and give a brief description as to why they have nominated them. Then we use Mentimeter to take a final vote of each student’s profile to find the winner. It’s easy, takes seconds and can be done on teachers’ phones. It works for us!

Nomination tips

Each year, nominations for Catapult become more competitive, and we receive many strong applications. Unfortunately, the level of need often exceeds the number of available spaces. While not being selected can be disappointing, it does not mean a nominee was not deserving or a good fit for Catapult.

Selections are based on several factors:

  • Barriers to access: Priority is given to youth who face barriers that limit their access to leadership opportunities, such as financial challenges, family responsibilities, lack of role models, geographic isolation, or other systemic barriers. A nominee only needs to demonstrate one barrier, though youth facing more significant challenges may be prioritized.

  • Leadership potential: We look for signs of leadership or emerging leadership—this may be shown through initiative at school, at home, or in the community. Youth who already have access to many leadership opportunities may be less competitive than those with fewer opportunities due to circumstances beyond their control.

  • Readiness to grow: Thoughtful applications and a willingness to step outside comfort zones help demonstrate a youth’s readiness for the Catapult experience. We encourage youth to apply for their own growth and development, independent of friends who may also be nominated.

Because Catapult is a long-term program, we aim to select youth who will benefit most from the opportunity. We are grateful for the care and consideration that goes into every nomination.

Catapult showed me ways to achieve my dreams, taught me the importance of reaching out to people, has given me new relationships and helped me grow.
