The community project portion of Catapult Plus is often the most difficult to get started – but it also holds the greatest rewards.
A pay-it-forward project is a commitment to recognize and assist the needs of others without pay. But you decide what you want to do, who you want to help and how you’re going to do it. You can do it alone or in groups. You can have an adult advisor or use friends and family to help you with your project. It may seem like a lot of work, but if you match your passions with a need – it’s fun! And while you’re doing your project, you’ll learn new skills like time management, volunteer management, project management – all this while giving back to your community!
If you don’t already know what you’d like to do…try following these steps:
1. Ask yourself “What are my hobbies?” and write down as many as you can think of
2. Look around your community and see how your hobbies could match with making someone else’s life a little easier
3. Start thinking about your plan (remember you can always use the Catapult Strategic Plan template in your handbook)
4. Make it happen!
